My waffle iron is broken and I wanted a new one for my mother for Christmas. I saw that this can be done, 2 at a time convenient. My whole family loves waffles with deep pockets. Is this a good buy or are there better?

KitchenAid appliances reliably for many. The only thing you can see is if the plates actually cook the noodles can be removed for cleaning.
